Rules and Regulations
1. The entry form deadline is March 1, 2011. No entries will be accepted after that date.
2. All entries must NOT have been in any previous Waco Quilt Show. No tied, fused, or bar tacked quilts will be judged. They will be hung for display only.
3. Please submit one entry from per item.
4. A photo of the entry is to be attached to each entry form.
5. Deliver all entries to the Extraco Exhibits Building, 4601 Bosque Blvd. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, between 12:00 noon and 6:00 pm.
6. For the brief time entries are not hung, they will be stored in plastic bags, which will be provided by the Guild.
7. Entries must be clean and in good condition. The Quilt Show Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry that it deems to be inappropriate or that fails to meet entry requirements.
8. Quilts must have a 4” sleeve sewn across the top of the back for hanging. Our hanging system will accommodate a quilt 90” square. It may be necessary to hang larger quilts in such a way that the lower edge is on the floor. In such cases, a floor covering will be placed under the quilt to protect it, or it will be carefully pinned up so as not to touch the floor.
9. The exhibitor’s name, address, and phone number must be permanently attached or on a piece of fabric temporarily basted, not pinned, to the back. The information may be written on the hanging sleeve.
10. Items entered under the categories of miniature quilts, wearable art, small items, and antique quilts are not required to have a sleeve.
11. Categories on the entry form are a guideline for exhibitors and the show committee. The show committee reserves the right to rearrange, modify, or create new categories as required. Final decisions regarding categories will be determined by the show committee.
12. All entries must be picked up at the Extraco General Exhibits Building, 4601 Bosque Blvd. on Saturday, April 9, 2011, between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm. A receipt will be required in order to pick up an entry.
13. PROTECTION: The building has complete fire control and security. Show volunteers will assist in installation of exhibits and will serve as hostesses/monitors for all display areas during public viewing hours.
14. JUDGING: Entries will be judged by a panel of quilt experts on Thursday, April 7, 2011. Exhibitors should indicate on the entry form if they intend for the entry to be judged and critiqued, or entered for display only.
15. AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded at the discretion of the judges in each category…1st, 2nd, and 3rd place(s). They will be two Judges’ Choice ribbons and one Best of Show ribbon awarded after judging is completed. One Viewer’s Choice ribbon will be awarded at the conclusion of the show. A Heart of Texas Award will be chosen by a Waco dignitary.
16. Anyone may offer their quilts for sale by establishing a price on the Registration form. If it is indicated the quilt is for sale, this will mean that the sellers contact information will be on a list located in the Homespun Quilters’ Booth. The Homespun Quilters’ Sale Chairman will see that an interested party will be able to contact the seller for negotiations concerning buying the quilt. The seller may reduce the price of the quilt or remove the quilt from the For Sale list by notifying the Sale Chairman and initialing the change. Quilts will remain on display until the show closes. Any ribbon won will remain with the seller.
